THE Dual Seal Stadium will be deserted this weekend as Town face a blank Saturday. It will be a far cry from the weekend their proposed opponents have had.

Paul Quinn’s Town should have faced the journey to Warrington Town but they have been otherwise engaged. Warrington hosted Exeter City last night instead, in front of a live television audience in the first round proper of the FA Cup.

They beat the Football League outfit 1-0 to remain the lowest ranked side in this year's competition, residing in the eighth tier of the football pyramid.

When Brighouse visit Warrington later in the season for the rearranged fixture it will be a far more low key affair.

Quinn and his players will be looking at their rivals in the spotlight and lamenting the narrow margins between success and failure. Last season Town had their own big adventure when they were drawn away at Edgeley Park. One-time Football League outfit Stockport County were 1-0 winners that day.

This season they were beaten 2-1 at home by Ashton United in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Town’s involvement in the other major competition, the FA Trophy, which they were making their debut in following last term’s promotion to the Evo-Stik League, was also short-lived.

They fell at the first hurdle, losing 1-0 at home to Ossett Town in the preliminary round. Even the West Riding County Cup was no cup of cheer as Town slumped to a 6-2 second-round defeat at Silsden.
