Albion Sports won the big Toolstation Northern Counties East League local derby as they took all three points at Thackley thanks to a 2-1 Premier Division victory.

The hosts could have gone level on points with their neighbours had they won but Albion instead stretched the gap between the clubs to six.

Sports took the lead when skipper Asif Hussain netted a 38th-minute penalty and they doubled their advantage two minutes later through midfielder Liam Ormsby.

Mike Garrod netted a consolation for the Dennyboys in the penultimate minute.

Brighouse Town maintained their title challenge with a comfortable 3-1 win at Glasshoughton Welfare.

Danny Naidole put Town in front and Ryan Hall added a second from the penalty spot midway through the first half.

There was a delayed start to the second half following floodlight problems and although Dell Pollock pulled one back for the hosts, Naidole restored Town’s two-goal advantage in the closing moments.

Liversedge’s home game against Long Eaton United kicked off late but that did not affect the visitors.

They scored twice in each half to run out 4-0 victors, with Ross Parker, Scott James, Danny Chambers and James Ainsworth on target.
