Leaders Brighouse Town still on right lines

Brighouse Town stayed on top of the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division and boosted their goal difference as they waltzed to an 8-1 home victory over struggling Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

Town opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Ernest Boafa but their lowly visitors ensured it was not going to be a whitewash with Tony Law making it 1-1 in the 13th minute.

From then on it was all one way, with Danny Nadiole and Leon Henry adding goals before a late first- half brace from Tom Matthews saw the home side going into the break with a comfortable 5-1 lead.

Nadiole’s second just three minutes into the second half stemmed any hopes of a remarkable comeback, while goals from Adam Wilson and Craig Thompson piled on the agony for the visitors.

It still remains tight at the top, however, as Town’s two title rivals also enjoyed victories.

Scarborough Athletic won 4-2 at mid-table Parkgate, while Bridlington Town eased to a 4-1 home win over Lincoln’s relegation rivals Hall Road Rangers.

The Seadogs could still overhaul Brighouse as they trail by just one point but have a game in hand. Brid have two games in hand but are eight points behind Paul Quinn’s leaders.

Thackley held on to ninth place following a 1-1 draw at Tadcaster Albion - one of the eight clubs above them.

Following a goalless first half, the Dennyboys’ former Bradford Park Avenue striker Dempsey Smith finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute.

However, Kyle Hawthorne struck a leveller for the home side just seven minutes later.
