Hudsons Athletic sealed the Bradford Sunday Alliance League Division 3A title on a dramatic final day of the season.
Only seven days ago, Bradford Phoenix looked to have secured first place after building a seemingly insurmountable points tally but, after Hudsons were awarded a win over second-bottom Undercliffe, the championship was once again wide open.
Hudsons never looked in trouble against a lacklustre Eccleshill side and took the lead through Mark Pickles before he completed his brace on the stroke of half-time.
A concise counter-attack from Tim Studdards made it 3-0 to ensure Hudsons clinched the title by a single point.
Keighley Rangers’ challenge for the runners-up spot in Division 3B was ruined by Nabwood Juniors, who hit them for six.
Adam Hill netted twice in the 6-1 rout before 41-year-old goalkeeper Peter Priestly scored on the day of his retirement from Sunday league football.
Stanningley Albion completed their first season in the Sunday Alliance in style as they comfortably defeated Bradford Dragons 6-0. The victory caps a great season in which they never tasted league defeat.
