ECCLESHILL Punjab have won their first cup final at their first attempt.

They defeated Peacock Bar (formerly Salthorn Victoria) 2-0 in the GOALS Bradford Sunday Alliance League's Amateur Cup final at Manningham Mills.

After twice coming through penalty shoot-outs in earlier rounds (against Prospect Reserves and George United) and seeing off Tyersal 2-1 in their semi-final, Punjab gave a convincing second-half display at Scotchman Road in the final and deserved to win.

In an uneventful first half, both teams had half-chances in a game that was desperate for a goal.

However, Eccleshill broke the deadlock after 54 minutes when Mohammed Waheed Khan, set up by Suckvinder Birk, broke through and beat the Peacock keeper, and they doubled their lead six minutes later when skipper Sajad Ali ran onto a cross to slot the ball home.

In league action, Station Hotel celebrated their Division 1A title win with a 5-2 victory over Beldon Oddies Reserves.

Paul Harrison bagged a hat-trick for the champions, with Jonathan Burgess and Lewis Carroll also on the mark.

Meanwhile, Wrose Bull and Steel Bangle Spartans shared four goals and the points, with Ryan Naylor and Jarho Parchment giving visitors Spartans a two-goal lead before Wrose Bull levelled in the second half.

In Division 2A, leaders Tyersal visited second-placed Mill Lane, and won 2-0 to clinch the title.

Josh Findlay and James Mortimore scored for the champions, but Mill Lane are also promoted.

In the final  game of George United's season,  they beat Fairweather Green 6-3 in Division 2B with goals from Joshua Armitage, Steven Stansfield, Damon Brophy and a hat-trick from Ryan Murgatroyd.
