THERE was a full programme of fixtures for Bradford Sunday Alliance League clubs at the weekend and West Bowling maintained their 100 per cent record in the Premier Division, remaining six points clear after a 4-1 victory over Thornton United.

It needed a great save by United’s Kevin Askey, palming Aidan Day’s shot around a post, to keep the scores level.

However, after 38 minutes, Chris Wood’s pass from wide out was neatly despatched by Day to break the deadlock.

United levelled after 50 minutes when Dave Wilson’s low cross was turned in by Chris Lever but they missed a golden chance when Danny Cunningham’s penalty was saved by Ashley Onitiri.

Two goals in two minutes then turned the game in Bowling’s favour, Wood bending a free-kick around the wall into the bottom corner before Day volleyed the ball in off a post from Josh Milner’s cross.

With Thornton committed forward, Bowling hit them again, with Milner slipping the ball inside for man of the match Day to complete his hat-trick. Thornton played some good football but Bowling defended well throughout.

Oakenshaw moved into second place after a 5-3 victory at Ventus United.

Billy Summers put the home team in front after 15 minutes but Josh Hans, James Gorman (penalty) and Joe Hewitt had made it 3-1 by the interval.

Andy Caddick got the fourth with a spectacular overhead kick before United hit back via Paul Rhodes and Summers, but Oakey restored a two-goal lead when Jack Hartley scored near the end.

Man of the match Matt Dempsey assisted in all five goals, while Josh Ludford was unplayable up front.

In Division One, Prospect fired nine past George Hotel, with Brandon Hammond hitting five. Swaine Green were also among the goals, hitting eight against Aire Athletic, Talent Ndlovu scoring four and Kristian Patel three.

Station Hotel remain top of Division 1A thanks to a hard-earned victory over Steel Bangle Spartans, with Dean Cawdrey and Paul Harrison on the mark for the leaders.

There was a change at the top of Division 2A, however, as new leaders Eastward ended Tyersal’s unbeaten league record, with the visitors winning 2-1 at Arkwright Street.

Jake Stott was on the mark for the home team but strikes by Alan Morley senior and Liam Carr gave the three points to the visitors.

Clayton Village Sports & Social logged a 4-2 victory at Eccleshill Athletic in Division 2A, with Liam Holmes bagging a brace for the visitors.

Turf were 1-0 down at half-time against Thornton United B but dominated the second half and were unlucky to lose 3-2 to a late own goal.
