INTEREST in the FA Sunday Cup for Bradford Sunday Alliance League clubs ended at the weekend as both Thornton United and West Bowling were beaten 4-1.

United bowed out at Ferrybridge Progressive and Bowling were dismissed at Newton Aycliffe Locomotion.

It was also League Cup weekend in the Alliance domestic competition and the Senior Cup produced a five-goal thriller between Bradford Phoenix and Allerton, with the visitors winning by the odd goal.

The Intermediate Cup saw Titans and Woodman Wanderers share two goals in 90 minutes but the hosts held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out to win it 4-3.

In the Amateur Cup, it finished 4-1 to Salthorn against Delius, with Paul Bell putting the home team in front after five minutes and doubling the lead 15 minutes later.

Jason Campbell made it a three-goal cushion on the half-hour mark and Liam Carroll made it four five minutes later.

Tyersal beat Mill Lane Reserves 2-0 at Arkwright Street, with Nick Leach and Mark McNulty getting on the score sheet.

Premier Division action saw Buttershaw Celtic and Ventus United fight out a seven-goal thriller, with the home team just having the edge.

Both teams played attacking football throughout and Liam Keeley bagged a hat-trick for the winners, with Darren Archer also on target.

The visitors replied with a brace from Ashley Maitland and a single strike by Thomas Bliss.

Oakenshaw visited Bolton Woods and a 5-1 win lifted them above Thornton into second place as they maintained their 100 per cent record. Andy Atkinson and Josh Hans both scored twice, supported by Louis Etenne.

Sandy Lane were too strong for bottom club Bradford Moor and won 4-1, with goals from Stuart Cotterill (2), Luke Hammond and Christopher Winn swamping Mohammed Suhail's reply.

Second-placed Bolton Woods Socials hit double figures in Division One as they brushed aside Thornton United Reserves 11-2. Kyle Berry grabbed a hat-trick but man of the match was Mathew Schofield, who had assists in the majority of the goals.

Division 2A leaders Mill Lane proved far too strong for Turf, winning 11-0, while Eccleshill Athletic overcame Bankfoot Lions 6-3 after being 2-1 behind at the interval. Dylan Stranney and Sam Thewlis both doubled up for the winners.

In Division 2B, another team to pull back a half-time deficit was Prospect Reserves against rock-bottom Victoria Lions as they hit five unanswered goals in the second period. Nathan Bailey and Jordan Farrell both hit hat-tricks in the 6-2 victory.
