IN the West Riding County Sunday cup first round, Oakenshaw had a fine 4-1 victory over Spen Valley outfit Woodman Batley Carr.

After a tight first half which ended 1-1, Oakey saw their class dominate the second half and run out easy winners.

Bowling opened the scoring when leading scorer Glyn Hirst shrugged off the defender before going round the keeper and knocking the ball into the net.

After 15 minutes, Bowling went further ahead Nathan Woodward hit a shot which the home keeper spilled into the path of the onrushing Joe Wood, who fired home.

The next goal came after 75 minutes Chris Wood held the ball up then passed to the edge of the box for Woodward to hit a unstoppable shot past the home keeper.

Michael K O'Brien then ran past five defenders before slotting ball into Hirst who rounded the home keeper and slotted home.

Woodward finished the scoring with another fine goal, coming in from the left he chipped the ball over the keeper into the far corner of the net.

The game was marred with a fracas which resulted in two Bowling and one Ventus player been sent off.

Thornton United and Thornbury Celtic shared the points in a 2-2 draw.
