WEST Bowling powered into a third semi-final of the season with an 8-1 win over Grass Greener United in the Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup.

The opening goal came in the 15th minute when Ben Kendall found Aidan Day in the box and he brought the ball down superbly before slotting home with a fierce shot.

Then a great move created Bowling's 100th goal of the season as Michael O'Brien's cross was met by the in-form Chris Wood, who made no mistake.

Wood scored his second from a similar range and Joe Jagger added a penalty.

Grass Greener got on the scoresheet with an own goal but Premier Division high-fliers Bowling soon restored their advantage as Jagger's cross allowed top scorer Wood to make it a hat-trick.

Day went on complete his treble before Jagger wrapped up the scoring for an emphatic win over the Division 1B underdogs.

Butershaw Celtic and White Eagles fought out a 1-1 thriller before Eagles held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out to emerge 4-2 winners.

Jamie Brannan adged Celtic ahead in the first half but Eagles replied through Dan Brown 15 minutes later.

Buttershaw's defence was put to the test in the last ten minutes as Eagles threw everything into gaining a winner but they held out to send the game to penalties.

In the Bradford Sunday Cup, Wharfedale Premier Division outfit Cuedos struggled to beat Alliance side YMCC 2-1 to seal their place in the final.

If a long-range shot in the closing stages by the lower-ranked team had not rebounded to safety off the crossbar, the tie would have gone to penalties.

In the other last-four match on an adjoining pitch, Bradford Vale booked their progress by also winning 2-1 against Steel Bangle Spartans.

The Division 2A team took the lead after ten minutes but 1A outfit Vale quickly equalised through an own goal. Then on the stroke of half-time, a superb through-ball from Luke Gallagher put player-manager Daniel Duckworth in the clear and he scored what proved to be the winning goal.

League action saw Swaine Green gain revenge for their previous defeat to Phoenix with a 3-1 victory in Division One.

The visitors scored after 15 minutes but Green soon replied when Ben Cook equalised. Cook then grabbed his second and Marcus Harper added the third, while man of the match for the winners was Talent Ndlovu.

A mid-table Division 3A clash between AFC Thornbury and Fairweather Green WMC Reserves finished level at 2-2.

Fabian Crawford and Craig Jones gave Green a two-goal lead but Terence Diffiroi and Paul Wind hit back.
