ONCE again the Bradford Sunday Alliance League was a victim of the weather and two early casualties were the GOALS-sponsored knockout semi-finals.

Both ties were due to be played at Rawdon Meadows but were called off by the ground owners on Friday.

There was some league action and in the West Bowling gave their chances of winning the Premier Division title a boost with a 10-0 drubbing of a gallant but depleted Bolton Woods team.

That not only secured the three points but also enhanced their goal difference as they climbed to second place above Buttershaw Celtic.

Bowling were 8-0 up at half-time but an inspired second-half performance by the visitors' stand-in keeper restricted the West Riding County Cup semi-finalists to only two more goals.

Among the scorers were Joe Jagger and Glyn Hirst, who bagged a brace apiece in the goal fest.

There was another high-scoring top-flight fixture between bottom two George Hotel and Ventus United, who emerged 6-5 winners.

Arron Sager bagged a double for basement side Ventus, with further goals coming from Thomas Briggs, Simon Gelder, Paul Rhodes and super-sub Jack Summers.

Buttershaw Celtic and fifth-placed Oakenshaw fought out a 1-1 draw at Harold Park.

Division One action saw Allerton notch up a 5-0 victory at mid-table Bolton Woods Social to move second in the table.

Thornton United Reserves are setting the pace at the top of Division 1A but the only match to be played in this section was at Thornton as Clayton Village edged Dog & Gun 2-1.

West Leigh Wizards saw off bottom side Turf 4-3 in Division 2A, with the visitors' goals scored by Michael Gumenuik, Jordan Rhodes and substitute Paul Ryder.

Division 2B leaders Station Hotel won a nine-goal thriller as they accounted for Delius 5-4.

Paul Harrison bagged a brace for Hotel, with Chris Bentley, Tyrone Depass and Kent Smith completing the tally. The visitors replied through Dominic Barker, Ashley Delaney, Colin Green and Daniel Le Prevost.

The top-of-the-table clash in Division 3A ended with honours even between leaders Parry Lane and East Bierley Village, who are a point behind having played two games more.
