WEST Bowling's top-of-the-table Bradford Sunday Alliance League trip to leaders Thornton United proved to be a cracker, with the visitors snatching maximum Premier Division points in a 1-0 win.

Bowling duo Joe Jagger and Chris Wood caused the home defence problems in the first half but the only goal came in the second when Aidan Day drove the ball into the area and Andrew Gallagher hit a superb shot past the home keeper.

The third-placed visitors were indebted to a superb save from Tom Carlisle, when he pushed a shot onto the woodwork and then smothered the rebound to claim the victory.

Nick Cowling gave a man-of-the-match performance and restricted the pace-setters' scoring chances.

Only eight points separate the top five teams in Division One, so this one looks to be going to the wire.

Grass Greener United announced their intentions in Division 1B with a convincing 5-1 victory at leaders Beldon Oddies.

Lyceum beat Toller 4-1 in a stormy match at Arkwright Street with goals from Glynn Beale, Daljit Aujla, Ryan Aujla and Anthony Busfield. Skipper Kamran Khan claimed a consolation for the visitors, who never really got going.

Division 2B strugglers George United and Scholemoor Rovers played out a thrilling end-to-end game as they shared six goals and the points. Danny Pattison bagged a brace for United, with Damon Brophy also on target.
