WEST Bowling are last man standing in the FA Sunday Cup as far as the Bradford Sunday Alliance League are concerned.

They moved into the second round with a 4-0 win at Horsfall Stadium over Leasowe's Poulton Royal from the Wirral, thus breaking their hoodoo at the ground.

Pre-match rain, which held water on the surface where Bowling were attacking, made for a fast game, and the home side took the lead in the 26th minute when man of the match Aidan Day shot firmly into the bottom corner when Chris Wood squared the ball.

In full control by now, league leaders Bowling made it 2-0 when Day's accurate shot finished off a ten-man passing move, but home keeper Tom Carlisle had to palm the ball past a post for his only save of the game in the second half following confusion in front of him.

In the 69th minute, Day completed his hat-trick when he gathered a defence-splitting pass and chipped the keeper.

his defence.

Bowling, who have been drawn at Liverpool Business League Premier division team Allerton in the second round on November 15, put the game to bed with a stunning 30-yard shot into the top corner by Andrew Kenyon.

Meanwhile, Bolton Woods lost 2-0 to Liverpool's Fantail at Thackley AFC, league champions Thornton United going down 5-0 to Alder, also of Merseyside, at Manningham Mills, thus repeating their second-round victory of last season in what was a much closer match.

It was also district cup day, and Division 1A high-fliers Queensbury led Premier Division Bradford Moor 3-0 after 20 minutes, only to go down 5-4 in the second round of the Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup.

Moor's response at Bradford Academy was to score four quick goals via Mohammed Ismaeel (2), Shehraz Mahmood and Gulfraz Satti Khan.

Ismaeel then completed his hat-trick in the second half to finish off the gallant visitors.

First Division Swaine Green, semi-finalists last season, went down 5-3 against Premier Division Buttershaw Celtic at Harold Park, Celtic's Lee Smith getting a hat-trick to take his seasonal goal tally to 17.

Jamie Brennan weighed in with a brace but the man of the match was Gary Stoyles, who had four assists.

Two of the Bradford & District FA Sunday Cup ties went to penalties, with Fairweather Green Reserves winning 3-0 over East Bierley Village in the second round and Scholemoor Rovers triumphing 4-3 against George United in the third round after both matches finished 2-2 after full-time.

There was a reduced league programme, with a severely weakened Peel Park beating visitors George Hotel 4-3 in the Premier Division.

Park were leading 2-0 at half-time after a mazy run and finish from Anthony Hannan and a cool finish by Liam Roper.

However, George were 3-2 ahead midway through the second half, only for John Selby to equalise and Mark Dempsey to hit the winner from the spot after Selby was brought down.

In Division 1B, Grass Greener United defeated George Hotel Reserves 5-1, thanks to Rob Coulter (2), James Smail, Andy Harland and Sean McVey, Chris Sedgewick netting an own goal into the bargain, while Lyceum, spurred by an Aaron Heywood brace, beat high-fliers Great Northern 3-2.

There was no separating Titans and Aire Athletic Reserves in the Division 2A top-of-the-table clash as they shared two goals, man of the match Anthony Pearson putting Titans ahead in the 29th minute, Adam Milne equalising from the spot five minutes into the second half for opponents who played most of the period with only ten men.
