THE season is going from bad to worse for Bradford Sunday Alliance League side Bolton Woods.

Not only have they lost all four of their Premier Division matches so far, but they were handed a 6-1 defeat at home to mid-table Division One side Swaine Green in the second round of the Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup.

Yet Woods were unfortunate in that they were facing a full-strength Green, who led 4-0 at half-time via Talent Ndlovu (2), Elliott Holmes and skipper Andy Philp – with all four goals being set up by man of the match Marcus Harper.

The latter player and fellow winger Ndlovu were also heavily involved in the second half, with Philp firing into the bottom corner from 25 yards and substitute Simon McQuiston, returning from a groin strain, finishing things off.

Holders West Bowling also moved into round three, defeating Allerton 5-2, but not before centre half Brendan Maltby had put Allerton ahead with a fine header from a corner.

Aidan Day eventually engineered the equaliser for leading scorer Joe Jagger and, with both keepers in form, there were no more goals until the second half, when Jagger got his second after Tom Lambert had hit the bar.

Andrew Kenyon made it 3-1 six minutes later before Jagger's sublime control put Glyn Hirst in for number four.

Jagger's fierce free-kick gave Nick Cowling the chance to force home the fifth goal before Ben O'Melia replied.

It was much more straightforward for Mill Lane – who put ten past Red Lion, with Liam Charles getting a hat-trick.

In the Bradford & District FA Sunday Cup first round, George United bagged two goals in each half to see off Gaping Goose 4-0, Danny Pattison getting three and Joshua Armitage one.

Titans were behind four times and only reached the third round after a 5-4 verdict against Prospect Reserves, Mick Dougan spearheading their effort with a hat-trick.

There was also some league action and White Eagles moved top of the Premier Division after a 5-1 home victory over Thornbury Celtic, which included four penalties.

Marcus Edwards and Alex Nesovic netted from open play for the Eagles – as did Levi Maturine, who took three spot-kicks and scored from two of them but also netted from a rebound after one of his penalties was saved.

There was another Eagles effort from the 12-yard mark but penalty taker Danny Crawford stumbled just before the ball and only succeeded in knocking it inches off its spot.
