WHITE EAGLES, promoted from Division One last season as runners-up, are top of the pile after handing champions Thornton United a rare defeat in the Bradford Sunday Alliance League.

Among the goal-scorers for the high-flying Eagles in an 8-3 victory were Marcus Edwards (3), Curtis McMahon (2), Jordan Missin and Alex Nesovic, Danny Walker (2) and Michael Tetley replying, while Adam Hirst got his marching orders.

West Bowling got off the mark in convincing style with a 6-1 triumph at Peel Park, despite going behind after three minutes to a Matt Dempsey header.

Bowling, who worked their way into the match, equalised before half-time via Glyn Hirst's left-foot shot from a tight angle after a great Jordon Lee Hagyard pass.

In the second half, man of the match Joe Jagger rifled a free-kick through a gap in the wall to put Bowling 2-1 ahead, and he also made it 3-1.

Hirst, Marc Price and Paul Jackson completed the one-sided second half, Jagger assisting in both the last two goals.

Bradford Moor are in second position after beating Ventus United 3-2 at Bradford Academy, United taking the lead via Paul Rhodes.

Mohammed Ismaeel scored either side of half-time for Moor before Rhodes netted again for the visitors, only for Shehraz Mahmood to get the winner for Moor with ten minutes left.

Meanwhile, Division One champions Oakenshaw, at their new home at Harold Park, had a good 3-1 victory over Buttershaw Celtic.

In the second tier, Olympic are in pole position after beating Aire Athletic 4-2, while Allerton are second after defeating Red Lion by the same score.

Swaine Green picked up their first win against visitors Cartwright Lister to move into third.

With many first-team regulars missing, the home team had a two-goal cushion at the interval with strikes by Sam Bradley, who is returning from an injury, and man of the match Anil Singh.

The visitors levelled in the second half before Talent Ndlovu netted for Swaine with ten minutes left from a direct free-kick, although their keeper Danny King still had to pull off several match-winning saves.

In Division 1A, Bradford Vale gave a good team performance in their 3-2 victory at Eccleshill Sunday, substitute James Fridlington (2) and Lewis Witter being on target.

Mill Lane hit the ground running, putting 14 past Wrose Albion in Division 1B, including hat-tricks by Dave Pemberton and Damian Rushworth.
