WEST Bowling have marched into the final of the Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup following a 4-0 win over Bolton Woods at Thackley.

After early semi-final nerves on a bumpy pitch, Bowling settled first, Glyn Hirst being upended in the box, only for leading scorer Damian Melvin's penalty to be saved by an outstretched leg, despite the keeper diving the other way.

However, with Paul Helliwell and his defence holding the Woods forwards at bay, Bowling were not deterred and took the lead when Paul Jackson met Jordon Lee Hagyard's free-kick with a glancing header.

They did not have to wait long for their next goal, and it was a sublime 30-yard curler from Aidan Day that finished in the top corner.

Bowling finished the half the stronger but could not add to their 2-0 lead.

They did so in the second half, though, when substitute Chris Woods, who came on after Hirst picked up a hamstring injury, prevented the Woods keeper from collecting the ball, and it ran free for Day to score his second.

Bowling's final goal was another cracker, Hagyard's sweet left-foot shot rocketing past the keeper. They will now play Thornton United at Eccleshill United on Tuesday, April 28 (7pm).
