THREE Bradford Sunday Alliance League clubs are praying for a dramatic weather improvement so they can finally play their much-delayed West Riding County FA Sunday Cup ties.

It is the fourth successive weekend that Thornton United will try to visit Belle Isle in Leeds, as well as league rivals Oakenshaw and Sandy Lane going head to head for a place in the quarter-finals.

The eventual winners of the Belle Isle v Thornton clash will face West Bowling in the last eight, while holders HT Sports await either Oakenshaw or Lane.

But with those ties scheduled for next week, competition organisers will be desperate to see an upturn in pitch conditions.

Three Premier Division matches are due to take place this weekend – bottom side Bradford Moor at home to Bolton Woods, George Hotel against Buttershaw Celtic and West Bowling versus Peel Park.

One game that should definitely go ahead is in Division 3B as West Riding County FA Sunday Trophy quarter-finalists Steel Bangle Spartans entertain Clayton Village Reserves at their new Dixons Allerton Academy home, which has a 4G pitch.
