THERE was disappointment for supporters at Manningham Mills, who were hosting the eagerly-awaited West Riding County FA Sunday Cup tie between Bradford Sunday Alliance League side Thornton United and former winners Thornhill Lees.

Only seven of the Dewsbury visitors could find the ground and that meant the visitors had to forfeit the match.

Grass Greener United's first foray into the County Sunday Cup was an unqualified success.

The Division 1B side put six without reply past visitors Mount Tabor from Halifax, with Adam Boocock, Matty Regan and Rob Coulter all bagging braces.

Oddfellows Celtic and Oakenshaw clashed in an all-Alliance tie, with Division One club Oakenshaw having too much for the gallant Division 1A hosts, who went down 6-2.

There were 14 goals in the match between Premier Division Peel Park and Oakwell Motel, with the Bradford team triumphing 8-6.

In an end-to-end game featuring two excellent attacks, Adam Turner scored five for Park and Allan Morley Jnr two, including a penalty, while Anthony Hannan finished proceedings off with a great long-distance strike into the top corner.

Thornton United Reserves went through in the West Riding County FA Sunday Trophy, beating Normanton 5-3.

Only one match was played in the Premier Division, visitors George Hotel getting the only goal at Buttershaw Celtic.

Meanwhile, a Sam Bradley hat-trick inspired Swaine Green to a 4-3 victory at Ventus United in Division One.

Swaine were in control in the first half and Elliott Holmes got them up and running with a powerful low strike from the edge of the area, skipper for the day Bradley getting another from a well-taken Kyle Shah corner.

Bradley then grabbed his second, finishing well by side-footing home a left-wing cross.

Ventus grabbed their second goal by easily heading home at the far post and started the second half better.

But it was the visitors who struck first through Bradley, who completed a perfect hat-trick with a header to add to right-foot then left-foot strikes.

The hosts scored a third ten minutes from the end but the visitors hung on to take the three points.

Top-of-the-table Oddfellows Celtic Reserves entertained next-to-bottom AFC Titans in Division 3A but the hosts were outplayed in the first half, trailing 3-0 after 26 minutes and 4-0 by half-time.

However, Oddfellows mounted a tremendous comeback to pull level at 4-4 with 15 minutes remaining, only for Delvyn Duggan to head a goal and give Titans a 5-4 lead.

But injuries forced them to make two unwanted substitutions in the last five minutes and the reserves scored twice, the winner coming in the dying seconds.
