Chances were at a premium in the Bradford Sunday Alliance League Premier Division match between Dudley Hill Rangers and Buttershaw White Star.

However, a Graeme Sides strike halfway through the first half was enough for White Star to gain the points and stay in second position with matches in hand on West Bowling.

Bowling had a high-scoring encounter at rock-bottom Mill Lane, winning by the odd goal in 11.

In a topsy-turvy encounter, the visitors went in front through Joe Jagger but the home team then scored three goals in ten minutes against the leaders.

Jagger hit another goal and Karl Fawcett also bagged a first-half brace to make the interval score 4-4, after which Bowling got on top, Jagger hitting another two goals, giving him four in all.

The gallant hosts hit a fifth goal five minutes before the end but could not force a deserved equaliser.

White Star now turn their attention to cup semi-finals. On Friday, they travel to Woodlesford to take on Ferrybridge Progressive WMC (7.30) in the West Riding County Sunday Cup.

On Monday, White Star make a third attempt to play their Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup tie against Swaine Green at Eccleshill United (7.00).

Meanwhile, back in the Premier Division, Peel Park took an early lead through an Adam Turner volley against Sandy Lane.

The visitors quickly levelled but, early in the second half, Terry Hargreaves put the hosts in front again, only for Sandy to score two quickfire goals to go in front.

Park remained in command, however, and were rewarded with an equaliser by Christopher Hanney ten minutes from the end of a thriller.

Despite strikes by Danny Walker, Deroy White and Luke Hepton, Thornton United went down 5-3 to Stanningley Albion.

In Division One, Napoleons Casino moved into pole position for the first time this season after a 5-0 victory at Bradford Phoenix.

Napoleons have two matches in hand on immediate rivals Buttershaw Celtic and Thornbury Celtic, and victory next week against Thornbury will assure them of the title. They are already assured of top-flight football next season, along with Buttershaw Celtic.

In Division 1A, Bolton Woods Socials moved 13 points clear at the summit but Wyke Rangers missed a chance to close the gap on second-placed Pudsey Amateurs by suffering a two-goal defeat against lowly Whitburn Athletic.

Swaine Green put in a fine performance in Division 1B, beating Beldon Sports by hitting six without reply.

Goals came from Gary Sunderland, man of the match Sam Bradley (2) and Jordan Horsfall (3) to set up a title decider against Red Lion on Sunday, April 20, with both clubs already promoted.

In Division 2A, Aire Athletic finished top following a 4-2 victory over Sporting Pudsey, and Oddfellows Celtic also finished the season with a victory - at George Hotel Reserves - and must be cursing the recent dropped points at Aire in a 3-3 stalemate.

Grass Greener United finished their Division 2B season with a 3-1 victory over Salthorn WMC.

Sam Shackleton. Rob Coulter and manager Paul Jarvis, who came on for his annual 15 minutes at the end of the campaign, were on target for United.

* Tomorrow night's Bradford & District FA Sunday Cup final between Salthorn WMC and Queen Hotel, which should have been played at Field, has been switched to Tyersal (6.30) owing to a waterlogged pitch.
