Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One: Eccleshill United 4 Ollerton Town 0

ECCLESHILL United sit proudly at the summit of Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One after a second-half Luke Harrop hat-trick eased them to a tenth straight victory in all competitions.

Nine of those wins have been in the league and the Eagles are a point clear at the top after last night’s comfortable home win over lower mid-table Ollerton Town.

Jonny Irving gave the home side a 27th-minute lead, and they held that advantage going into the interval.

But they were two goals to the good just four minutes into the second half thanks to Harrop, and he netted in the 70th and 76th minutes to claim his treble.

Sean Regan’s men will consolidate their standing with a win at tenth- placed Glasshoughton Welfare on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Albion Sports were knocked out of the NCE League Cup after Pontefract Collieries won an all-Premier Division second-round tie at Throstle Nest.

Two players that are well known to the Albion Lions led to their demise as former Campion top scorer Eli Hey broke the deadlock minutes before the interval, and former Liversedge forward Vaughan Redford doubled Ponte’s lead late on.

There was still time for Lamin Janneh to score what turned out to be a consolation.

Albion’s Premier Division rivals Liversedge should have been in league action but their fixture at Harrogate Railway Athletic was postponed late in the afternoon.
