Albion Sports 1 AFC Mansfield 2

Albion Sports suffered another defeat in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League top tier last night after conceding a stoppage time goal to visitors AFC Mansfield.

The Lions’ depleted squad have endured a tough time, banking just one point from their last five league games, but they felt they deserved at least a draw from the visit of ninth-placed Mansfield.

The visitors struck early as Oliver Fearon breached the flimsy Albion defence in the 19th minute, and they took that slim lead into the break.

Albion were much improved in the second half but Karl Hall and Danny Facey were both thwarted as they sought an equaliser.

They eventually levelled when Facey netted ten minutes from time but even then they failed to hold on, and Fearon bagged his brace two minutes into stoppage time.

Lions’ boss Kulwinder Sandhu said: “We totally dominated the second half but we gifted them two goals and you can’t do that at this level and expect to win games.

“Their manager said after the game that he didn’t know how his side had won. It’s nice of the guy to be honest like that but it doesn’t make it any easier.”

Albion remain sixth despite their poor run and they head to 16th-placed Maltby Main at the weekend.
