FARSLEY Celtic bowed out of the Evo-Stik League Cup as they lost 3-2 in the third round at Ashton United last night.

The Robins play their football a division higher than Division One North side Farsley, yet it was still a competitive tie and needed a late penalty for the home side to sneak through.

Ashton raced into a two-goal lead, with Ryan Crowther opening the scoring before Matty Chadwick added the second in the 18th minute.

Former Bradford Park Avenue and Celts youth striker Lamin Colley started for Farsley in a second debut and he played a key role in the second-half fightback.

Colley provided a cross for Ross Daly to halve the deficit and ten minutes later scored himself to level the contest – but Crowther settled the outcome when he netted from the spot in the 87th minute.
