LIVERSEDGE leapfrogged neighbouring rivals Albion Sports in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League after banking three points from their trip to Rainworth MW in the Premier Division.

Following a goalless first half, Joe Walton put Sedge in front but the home side hit back through Nick Langford.

Steve Wales put Jonathan Rimmington’s men back in front just after the hour mark and Walton cemented their win late on with his second.

The victory saw Sedge displace the Albion Lions in sixth place as Kulwinder Sandhu’s men lost out by the odd strike in a seven-goal thriller at Worksop Town.

The hosts broke the deadlock when Mitcham Husbands scored but Albion were level at the break after Omar Habeeb netted.

Albion then raced into a 3-1 lead as Danny Facey scored two in as many minutes early in the second half.

There was a late fight-back by the home side as Matt Parkin pegged a goal back 15 minutes from time before Kyle Jordan bagged a late brace – the second from the penalty spot – to make it 4-3.

Thackley also went down as they lost 2-1 at home to lowly Bottesford Town.

The visitors snatched an early lead through Elliot Broughton before the Dennyboys equalised just six minutes into the second half.

The fourth placed side couldn’t add to that though, and Bottesford’s Paul Grimes scored the winning goal 16 minutes from time.

A home victory saw Campion climb back to within one point of the play off places in Division One.

They had to battle hard to get their win over mid-table Winterton Rangers as the visitors were 2-1 up with 20 minutes remaining.

A Danny Cunningham strike had taken Campion into the break a goal up but Winterton’s Jake Rotherham hit a seven-minute brace before the home side’s leading scorer Eli Hey weighed in with a brace of his own. Jason Davis wrapped up the scoring in the last minute.

Eccleshill United were also winners as they brought all three points back with them from their trip to mid-table rivals Brigg Town.

The Eagles took a first minute lead through Matt Waller and Alex Cusack doubled their advantage in the eighth minute. Brigg hit back through Nathan Smith just before the break but Chris Lever restored Eccleshill’s two-goal lead in the 71st minute.

There was no joy for Silsden in the Hallmark Security League as their losing run in Division One stretched to three games with a 2-1 defeat at Stockport Town.

The home side leaped three places up to ninth, while the Cobbydalers remain a lowly 16th in the table.

Adam Stubbs had given the home side a first-half lead and although Silsden’s Danny Illingworth levelled, Stockport’s Darryl Grant netted an 87th minute winner.
