FARSLEY Celtic climbed back into the Division One North play-off places in the Evo-Stik League after a hard- earned 3-2 win at Colne.

The visitors took the lead when a free-kick from skipper Aaron Hardy was flicked on to Adam Clayton, who lashed in a shot.

Their advantage lasted only a minute, however, before the hosts forced a corner that Mark Ayres converted from close range.

Farsley were back ahead before the break though as James Walshaw netted an excellent volley from the edge of the area but Colne hit back again as a Hardy error let Oliver Wood in.

However, Walshaw claimed his ninth goal in four games when he bagged a brace with a header to convert Hardy’s excellent cross nine minutes from time.

Brighouse Town had to come from a goal down at home to fellow promotion chasers Scarborough Athletic.

The Seadogs almost had a dream start as they were awarded a first-minute penalty but Town’s keeper Tom Taylor saved the spot-kick from former Guiseley player Adam Bolder.

The Seadogs edged in front before the half-hour through Billy Logan but Town snatched a point with two minutes remaining when Devonte Morton slotted in from point-blank range.

Paul Quinn’s men moved up one place to eighth but the stalemate cost Scarborough one place as they slipped to sixth.

Thackley proved that they are serious contenders in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division when they held Pickering Town to a 1-1 draw in North Yorkshire.

The Pikes took a second-minute lead through George Bissett but were pegged back by Mike Garrod’s strike just before the hour.

The Dennyboys stay fourth, while Pickering dropped one place to third, with the sides still separated by just one point.

Liversedge mounted a magnificent comeback to overturn a three-goal deficit at home as they also banked a point.

Visitors Staveley Miners' Welfare led 1-0 at the break and had opened a three-goal cushion before the hour but a Steve Wales brace and Joe Walton’s late equaliser cancelled out Adam Lee (2) and Tyla Bell’s goals for Staveley.

There was a shock at Throstle Nest as Albion Sports were beaten 4-2 by basement outfit Barton Town Old Boys.

A first-half brace from Luke Salas had Barton in front at the break, and Thomas Waudby made it 3-0 before Danny Facey pulled a goal back.

Waudby added his second, and though Joe Barden pegged another back, it was too late to affect the result.

There was no joy from either of the two local sides in Division One as Eccleshill United were beaten by a Pontefract Collieries side who moved to within three points of an automatic promotion place with their win.

The sides shared five goals but the Eagles were beaten 3-2.

Andy Cooper and Chris Lever were the Eccleshill scorers, while Spencer Clarke, Kane Reece and Chris Jackson were on target for the visitors.

Campion went down 2-1 at Glasshoughton Welfare, with all three goals coming in the last eight minutes.

Nathan Keightley broke the deadlock before Eli Hey levelled but Andy Horbury netted the home side’s last-minute winner.

Silsden were beaten 4-1 at home in Division One of the Hallmark Security League by promotion-chasing Widnes. Chris Lomax and Kevin Towey gave Widnes a half-time lead.

Kyle Hancock gave Silsden hope when he scored eight minutes into the second half but late goals from Luke Edwards and Billy Webb saw the visitors through to a comfortable victory.
