Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Bridlington Town 4 Albion Sports 2

ALBION Sports recovered from a poor first half at Bridlington Town last night but lost their top-tier clash after the home side’s debutant Jake Day rattled in a hat-trick.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s side were looking for the win that would have taken them level on points with the Seasiders, and they took an early lead, but Curtis Woodhouse’s men hit back as Day had a dream start with his new club.

The Lions broke the deadlock when Danny Facey netted, the striker plundering his fourth goal in two games when he slotted under keeper James Hitchcock.

Day got off the mark after turning two defenders and firing home, and added the second with another good finish after being picked out by a through ball, but it was strike partner Joel Sutton who headed home Brid’s third.

Albion dominated periods of the second half and pegged the Seasiders back when Omar Habeeb scored after a scramble in the area, but as they looked to keep the pressure on and force an equaliser the home side broke away.

Day completed his treble with a shot that was half-blocked but, agonisingly for the Lions, rolled over the line.

The Seasiders moved above Thackley on goal difference, while Albion remain in sixth.
