Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Albion Sports 4 Staveley MW 4

ALBION Sports needed a late equaliser to rescue a point against visitors Staveley MW in an eight-goal thriller.

Sports raced into a 2-0 lead and led 3-1 at the break but were still pegged back as the Lions hosted the Trojans.

Karl Hall opened the scoring when he volleyed in from a second-minute corner, and Omar Habeeb added the second minutes later, also slotting past keeper Lewis Naylor following a flag-kick.

It looked as though the Lions were heading into the interval with that clean sheet but the visitors’ Ashley Rawson netted a good finish past Lions’ keeper Jack Bentley minutes before half-time.

There was still time to restore the two-goal cushion, however, as Habeeb lashed in a shot that took a deflection and looped over Naylor.

Staveley made a change during the break, and Adam Lee came off the bench to play a big part in their comeback.

The deficit was cut to a single goal again when Tyla Bell netted in the 51st minute before Craig Getty latched onto a poor back-pass to make it all square.

The Albion defence were static as Lee gave the Trojans the lead for the first time in the game, but Hall was the Lions’ saviour as he grabbed the home side’s last-minute leveller to complete an evening of drama at Throstle Nest.

The draw did neither club any favours as Albion remain sixth, with Staveley still in 12th.
