Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Albion Sports 5 Bottesford Town 3

ALBION Sports endured a 40-minute half-time break last night in registering a victory that moved them back into the top six.

It was certainly an eventful night at Throstle Nest as there were three penalties, an extended interval due to thick fog and a sending-off during an eight goal game.

The Lions took the lead when Karl Hall stroked home an early penalty but visitors Bottesford turned the game with a deflected free-kick that put them level and then a header that went in off a post to take the lead in only the ninth minute.

After that breath-taking opening spell, Albion equalised midway through the first half through Danny Facey, and regained the lead minutes later when Hall netted his second spot-kick.

Albion’s keeper then saved a penalty before Steve Mallory netted a free- kick to give the home side a 4-2 lead at the break.

That was when the mist thickened to dense fog, and the referee initially delayed the re-start for 15 minutes, adding another ten minutes before finally declaring that the conditions were fit to get the game completed.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s men extended their lead to 5-2 before the visitors were reduced to ten men late in the second half.

However, Bottesford’s depleted side men pegged another goal back before the late finish.

Martin Pemberton, Oli Donald and Dan Boulton were on target for the visitors.
