LIVERSEDGE consolidated their place at the top of the Premier Division in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League with a magnificent 5-0 victory at Barton Town Old Boys.

Goals from Vaughan Redford and Rhys Davies in a four-minute spell midway through the first half put Sedge in control. Redford added his second soon after the interval and Joe Walton added just before the hour mark before Mathias Britton wrapped up the scoring.

ALBION SPORTS leapfrogged THACKLEY to climb into sixth place with a 1-0 victory in a tight derby fixture at Dennyfield. The home side’s keeper Matt Convey thwarted Lions striker Danny Facey when he saved a 23rd-minute penalty but he was beaten ten minutes later by Omar Habeeb.

ECCLESHILL UNITED lost their place at the summit of Division One as they went down 3-2 at Dronfield Town after a poor first half. The Eagles had a 100 per cent record going into the game but trailed 2-1 at the break.

The visitors had broken the deadlock, Luke Harrop converting a 28th-minute penalty, but Dronfield’s Liam Bryan was their match winner. Bryan netted twice in the first half and completed his hat-trick in the last minute after the Eagles had equalised though Marcus Edwards.

The Eagles are replaced at the top by Hallam, who also needed a late goal to win by the same margin at CAMPION.

Steve Hollingworth put the home side in front but Steve Brammer levelled before half-time. The visitors edged in front through Matty Ord before Scott Eastwood equalised from the penalty spot eight minutes from time but Jack Hargreaves hit Hallam’s winner.
