ALBION boss Kulwinder Sandhu was happy to celebrate his birthday with a home victory last Saturday.

His side beat Leeds based Garforth Town 1-0 in a tight derby clash and Sandhu picked out his keeper for a special mention.

Sandhu said, “I had to go for Kyle Trennery in goal and the lad is just 16 but he did a tremendous job.

“He didn’t show any fear or any immaturity, he just showed what a class keeper he is and I think he will keep on improving. He looks like a confident lad who knows the game and I’m not surprised because his Dad’s a very good player at Campion.

“Kyle played really well and made some great saves but he was only in the side because we have two keepers out. Jack Bentley, our regular keeper, is still injured with a broken finger.

“Our goalkeeping coach Mark Bower has been in for him since the injury, but he was away last weekend.

“That was why Kyle was in and it was a difficult game for a young lad. It was a difficult game for everyone really because of the conditions.

“It does help that it’s Throstle Nest and one of the best pitches in the area at any level, otherwise I don’t think we would had a game. It was one of those matches, difficult underfoot, raining, windy, when you are just scrapping for points.

“We got all three and young Kyle played his full part in that victory for us.”
