SILSDEN face a tough away fixture as they look for the three points that could lift them out of the relegation zone in the North West Counties League Premier Division on Saturday.

The Cobbydalers are third from bottom, just inside the drop zone now that the league has adopted a play-off from Division One, and their confidence will be low after being knocked out of the League Cup 1-0 in midweek by AFC Blackpool, the club immediately below them.

Silsden travel to third-placed 1874 Northwich in search of an unlikely victory – if the game goes ahead.

Cobbydalers’ spokesman Jim Rosser said: “They (Northwich) play at Winsford United’s ground, and it’s not the best pitch in the division.

“Our pitch has taken a battering from the weather but we played on Wednesday and it was really soft and cut up.

"If we had been at home, I don’t think it would be on, and fortunately our reserves are not at home – if they had been it would have been off.”
