ALBION Sports will have one eye on the weather today as they look to get back into action tonight after an unwanted mid-season break.

Albion were left without a game by the fixture schedule over the Christmas and New Year period – their last run out was the eventful 5-3 home defeat to Barton Town Old Boys on Saturday, December 19.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s men are hoping to be back on the pitch this evening in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division at their rented home of Throstle Nest, with Retford United the visitors.

Albion were fourth before their defeat to Barton and their enforced rest. They are eighth as they go into tonight’s game against mid-table Retford.

It will provide Marcus Edwards with a chance to claim outright third position in the leading goalscorers list – he is currently one of four players on 21 goals. A hat-trick would take him joint top.

There was more frustration last night as Thackley’s home NCE League Cup third round derby against Eccleshill United was postponed.

Silsden’s Men United Cup third round tie at AFC Blackpool was also called off for a fourth time.
