THE focus for local non-league soccer fanatics on Saturday will be the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division derby between Albion Sports host Liversedge at Throstle Nest.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s Albion have been the highest placed of the area’s three representatives in the division for most of the season, but they will be looking to get back to winning ways after suffering back-to-back 2-1 defeats.

Albion, who are tenth, are still just five points off third place. However, boss Sandhu is far from happy.

"It’s been so frustrating this season because we have had the chances to be up at the top," he said.

“We’ve dropped stupid points after getting points against all of the top teams.

"We’ve got a lot of young players and they are technically very good, but they are hit and miss in terms of form.

“Our keeper Jack Bentley is only 19, Matty Dalton 21, Aran Basi 22, Jordan Hendrie, who is a great signing for us, is only 19, so they are young lads.

"They will all be very good players but you have to persevere with them and accept that right now they will make mistakes.”

While Albion are still in the top half of the table, their visitors Sedge are fourth from bottom.

They drew 0-0 last time out at fellow strugglers Nostell MW, but could find themselves in the relegation places if they lose tomorrow as they are just two points better off than second-from-bottom Armthorpe Welfare.

Thackley have climbed to a respectable 15th after a dreadful start but will be hard pressed to bank a home win tomorrow.

The Dennyboys’ visitors are second-placed Worksop Town, who are hot on the heels of Tadcaster Albion.

They trail by just two points but have a game in hand and a superior goal difference.

Eccleshill United travel to basement outfit Lincoln Moorlands Railway in Division One after a remarkable start to Sean Regan’s reign.

The first game for Regan after he took over from Mark Greaves and Hayden Lobley was last Saturday’s 5-5 draw Hall Road Rangers.

There should be goals in tomorrow’s clash with Lincoln, who are ten points adrift at the foot of the table after being hammered 14-0 at Selby Town last weekend.
