A JAMES Bolton goal deep into extra time saw Guiseley bow out of the FA Cup 2-1 at home to FC Halifax Town.

Bolton struck in the 114th minute of the fourth qualifying-round replay to earn the Shaymen a money-spinning first-round tie at home to League Two side Wycombe Wanderers.

The Lions had been denied an early lead as Tom Craddock netted from an offside position before Halifax broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Sam Walker turned in Kevin Roberts' cross.

There were some excellent saves from both Steve Drench of Guiseley and Town counterpart Matt Glennon in the second half as the tie remained in the balance.

But then Adam Boyes, whose brace at The Shay on Saturday had booked the replay, netted 15 minutes from the end of normal time.

Unfortunately, Bolton broke the Lions’ resistance in the second half of extra time just when penalties looked set to decide the outcome.

Elsewhere, Thackley travelled to Garforth Town in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League and although the Dennyboys were leading 4-0 with 15 minutes remaining, the Premier Division match was abandoned due to fog.

It is the first foray into that competition this term for both teams as they received byes in the first round. Avenue are the defending champions.
