ALBION’S new press secretary and spokesman Pete Cusack laid the blame for Albion’s recent shock defeat to struggling neighbours Thackley firmly at his own door.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s men were striving to stay on the coat tails of the leading pack while the visiting Dennyboys were battling to stay out of the relegation zone when the sides met at Throstle Nest a week last Wednesday.

The match had home banker written all over it but the Dennyboys won it 3-1 and Cusack accepted responsibility.

He said: “I put the kiss of death on it because in my programme notes I was keen to tell everyone that Albion had won all five of the last meetings between the clubs.”

“But on the night if it could go wrong for us it did, starting with Connor Erangey getting injured in the warm up. That meant Brice Tiani had to come in from the start and Kully had more reorganising to do ten minutes in when Josh Eastwood got injured.

“Brice was fouled in the area midway through the first half but Asif Hussain missed the penalty. They got a penalty midway through the second half for a handball and Mike Garrod stuck that one away.

“In many ways it was a good game as it was a typical derby, but just not a good day for us.”

Thackley secretary Stewart Willingham was in agreement, he said, “They had us under pressure at times but it was very even and at the moment any win for us is a good win.

“It was close but one of those when little things made the difference, like them missing their penalty and us scoring. When that goes for you it’s going to be your night.

“We were glad that something finally went our way because when you’re down there you never seem to get the breaks.”
