ALBION Sports face an FA Cup replay at Throstle Nest on Wednesday after a controversial draw at Steve Harmison’s Ashington in the extra preliminary round.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s men conceded an equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time to surrender a 2-1 lead. It was not Albion’s day as they had seen two strikes chalked off earlier during an all action encounter.

Ashes winner Harmison’s younger brother James gave the Northern League outfit a lead in first half stoppage time. Danny Cunningham and Alex Cusack put the visitors in front before Dylan Williamson’s late leveller. Marcus Edwards and James Firth were the players denied by the officials.

Thackley await the winners of the replay after they won 3-1 at Durham City. The Dennyboys were 1-0 down after four minutes, James Fairley on target for Durham, but a three goal salvo in the second half turned the tie with Paul Whiteley levelling before Mike Garrod bagged a brace.

Silsden will join them in the next round after a 2-1 home win over West Allotment Celtic, Craig Nicholls spectacularly chipping the visitors’ keeper from distance and Chris Wademan getting the Cobbydalers’ goals.

Visitors Kendal Town put a dampener on Farsley Celtic’s ‘Celebrate Celtic Day’ at Throstle Nest on the day that Evo-Stik League got underway. The Lakeland outfit ran out 3-1 winners with a brace from Tom Kilifin and a third from Sam Bailey.

Division One North rivals Brighouse Town battled back from a 2-0 half time deficit to earn a point at Trafford. A Chris McDonagh penalty gave the Mancunians a 19th minute lead and Jack Dorney doubled that just before the break.

James Pollard started Town’s comeback minutes into the second half and Ernest Boafo snatched the equaliser with less than two minutes remaining.

Eccleshill United went goal crazy as they picked up their first three point maximum in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One with a 7-2 home win over Winterton Rangers.

The Eagles led 6-0 at half time with Rangers claiming the moral victory of winning the second half 2-1. Luke Harrop led the way for the Eagles with a hat-trick, Joe Firth bagged a brace and Jarad Peltier weighed in with the other coming from a Jake Thompson own goal. Daniel Beecham, with a penalty and Tom Wilson were on target for the visitors in the last ten minutes.
