ALBION Sports will be looking to put last weekend's frustrating Toolstation Northern Counties East League defeat behind them when they host Pickering Town in the Premier Division on Saturday.

Kulwinder Sandhu's side had a man sent off in the opening minutes at Staveley but still ran their hosts close in a 4-2 loss.

That defeat cost them one place in the table but the ninth-placed club are still the highest of the area's three representatives in the division.

Albion would break through the 30-point barrier with a win this weekend as they strive to equal or improve on last season's sixth-placed finish. Pickering are just three places lower but six points worse off.

Liversedge, who were beaten 4-0 at Pickering last Saturday, would move up the table with a home win.

Sedge are 16th and averaging exactly one point per game after 18 starts but they would leapfrog 13th-placed visitors Athersley Recreation if they gain a maximum haul.

Four defeats and a postponement have ruined Sedge's month but they will be seeking to end November on a high with an all-too-rare home success.

Thackley lost 3-1 in midweek, despite looking dangerous and creating chances at Worksop Town, and they face another tough test as they travel to the east coast to take on Bridlington Town.

Brid are enduring a disappointing campaign by their own standards after being in the thick of a pulsating promotion race last season. But they enjoyed a 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture at Dennyfield and are still four positions higher than 14th-placed Thackley.

Eccleshill United were also beaten in midweek, leaving them without a Division One victory since the first day of the month.

The Eagles are at home again on Saturday, with struggling Lincoln Moorlands Railway making the journey to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

Railway have banked only a point per game this term following last season's relegation from the Premier Division and were the last team Eccleshill beat.

In fact, the tenth-placed Eagles' 4-0 scoreline at Lincoln in the reverse fixture at the start of November was the last time they enjoyed a victory in any competition.
