ALBION Sports cruised to a 4-0 victory in the Northern Counties East League local derby as they put Thackley to the sword at Throstle Nest.

It was an interesting Premier Division match-up, with Albion having four ex-Thackley men in their squad and former Bradford Park Avenue man Matty James making his debut.

The Dennyboys had two former Albion players in their starting line-up for what should have been a close game. Yet it was no contest at all as the home side won each half 2-0.

Albion hit the post in the sixth minute and James was denied a debut goal from the rebound by a good block.

The deadlock was broken when James Firth fired in after Brice Tiani had touched on Asif Hussain's free-kick, Firth and Tiani being two of Albion's four former Dennyboys.

Alex Cusack added the second goal from distance in first-half stoppage time, with the Dennyboys defence claiming keeper Ed Hall had been impeded by an offside player.

The home side continued to cause problems for the Thackley defence but failed to add to their lead until 13 minutes from time.

Karl Hall then netted on the volley from just inside the area after beating Hall to a through-ball from a free-kick and minutes later Danny Facey wrapped up the scoring.

LIVERSEDGE lost 3-0 at home as Barton Town Old Boys extended their unbeaten run to eight games.

Following a close and goalless first half, Sedge fell behind to an unfortunate own goal when a cross went in off the chest of defender Callum Morton.

The goal came just minutes after Sedge's best chance of the game and it deflated the home side, with Corey Mortimer and Gareth Owen adding to the tally in the final seven minutes.

ECCLESHILL UNITED suffered a second consecutive home defeat in Division One, going down 1-0 to leaders AFC Emley.

The Eagles had keeper Weston Murau sent off when he conceded a 25th-minute penalty. Ethan Cashen replaced him between the sticks but could not keep out Paul Sykes' spot-kick.

That turned out to be the only difference between the sides but the Eagles stay fourth, although they now trail Emley by eight points.
