Up to 150 people attended a football tournament in memory of a Fairbank United player who died earlier this year.
Friends and family of the late Qasim Rehman met to support or take part in the inaugural Qasim Rehman Memorial Cup.
It seemed fitting then that Team Qasim, a team made up of his close friends – roared on from the sides by Qasim’s younger brother Hashim – took the title, winning 3-1 in the final.
Tournament organiser Shazad Bashir, who was his manager at Fairbank United, paid tribute to Qasim before the presentation of the trophy He said: “Qasim was a very talented footballer who played for my team when he was 13.
“He was always laughing smiling and joking and I have nothing but fond memories of him.
“Running this tournament was the club’s attempt to pay tribute to a genuinely nice guy. I’m sure he’d be smiling now knowing his boys won the cup”.
The proceeds of the tournament (£500) will be donated to charity. Qasim, aged 22, was found dead in a field off Stocks Lane, Clayton Heights, Bradford in May.
Police did not treat his death as suspicious.
