Leeds United
Good, bad and worse news for United
There was good news, bad news and worse news on the financial front for Leeds United last night.
The good news was that Stoke City's promotion to the Premiership will trigger a clause in Richard Cresswell's transfer from Elland Road and bring an extra £200,000 into United's coffers.
The club were also hoping for another windfall from a bumper gate in the home leg of the play-off but in fact the money from all the semi-final legs will be pooled and shared among the four clubs taking part, with Leeds likely to contribute almost as much as the other three combined.
That has also worked against Leeds fans because the club were planning to stage it at Category C prices as a thank you for the great support all season, but the other three semi-finalists wouldn't agree so it will be Category B, starting at £20 a ticket.
Tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow to the general public, with a maximum of four per application.
The final blow to Leeds' bank balance is the news that the club will have to pay its own legal bills for the recent appeal against the 15-point deduction.
With legal fees being what they are, whatever Leeds earn from the play-offs and Cresswell is likely to end up in the lawyers' bank accounts.

Dear British,
We've heard that you want to support Polish team during Euro 2008. Thank you, that's very nice of you, we could use every supporter there is. And it will be our pleasure to beat the Germans on your behalf also. We must add that we had a lot of fun reading your jokes about plumbing and building services. But why spoil this pleasant atmosphere? If you really want to exchange some bites, maybe we can wait untill the tournament? We'll have something, a flag maybe, at the stadium during Poland's game, and you... Well, you can decorate your apartaments and houses? Use your famous british imagination! You know, like you do in Cracow.
