Grayson: We've got nothing to lose against Spurs

Leeds United will check the fitness of Neil Kilkenny, Patrick Kisnorbo and Andrew Hughes before Wednesday night’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against Tottenham at Elland Road.

Kilkenny and Kisnorbo missed the 2-0 win against Colchester through injury, while illness ruled out Hughes.

Max Gradel and loan duo Gary McSheffrey and Shane Lowry are ineligible.

Manager Simon Grayson believes the return to winning ways against Colchester will have no bearing on the outcome of the replay. Nor is he listening to those who believe a prolonged FA Cup run could derail the club’s promotion bid.

Grayson said: “We have nothing to lose against Spurs. That would have been the case regardless of Saturday’s result because our confidence and belief never waned when we were not winning over the last few weeks.

“We are still the underdogs but we go into the game with a good shout. My main focus is on next Saturday’s game at Hartlepool but we are taking the replay seriously because we want to win through to the next round.

“We will put a team out against Tottenham that will hopefully compete and give a good account of themselves.

“We showed at White Hart Lane that we can play the ball around like them. If we beat them it will give us a major psychological boost because they are a top team.”

Left back Lowry, who hobbled off in the 71st minute against Colchester, was suffering from nothing more serious than cramp.

He and winger or striker McSheffrey will put in extra training this week in readiness for the league visit to Hartlepool.

United, who will announce a new sponsorship deal tomorrow, have extended goalkeeper David Martin’s loan spell from Liverpool until February 10.

Midfielder David Prutton’s contract has been cancelled by mutual consent so he can turn his loan spell at Colchester into a permanent move.
