GARRY Monk expects Leeds United to come back stronger after their dour 0-0 draw with QPR.

The Yorkshiremen put in a below-par performance as they lost further ground on the automatic promotion places.

The Londoners enjoyed the better of the chances with Conor Washington wasting great chances either side of the break to snatch the win.

The Whites failed to create any clear cut chances with dangerman Chris Wood kept silent throughout.

A frustrated Monk said: "There are no excuses from us, we didn't do enough to win the game.

"We were below the standards, especially at Elland road, of what we usually set.

"The positives are that we kept a clean sheet and we got a point .

"It extends our unbeaten run. We did not hit the standards, but it was not through a lack of effort.

"This group will always respond, we are all in it together and will win and lose together. You always get ups and down.

"We are always great at responding and we will do that in the coming games. We will push to get back to the levels we expect."

"We have nine games left and we have to have a better level next week.

"We were trying to push in the closing stages and you can see that the commitment is there. "Other teams around us lost and this is another useful point."

QPR boss Ian Holloway said his side had sent out a clear statement of what they are capable of.

I'm so pleased with that performance," he said. "A point was the least we deserved. The boys were brilliant against a good side

"We carved out the better chances. Our game-plan was to counter and take the game to them. And that's what we did.

"Apart from taking the chances, we did everything we could. To come here & play like that, wow.

"We applied ourselves brilliantly against of the best teams in this league. On another day, we take all three points.

"Of course I'd have liked to have got the win we deserved - but to come here and play as well as we did is a good statement.

"That performance will do the lads the world of good. The supporters seemed to enjoy it. And that's a good feeling for me.

"I tipped Leeds for the play-offs and I was happy to throw my hat in the ring because I know how good Garry is."
