Bristol City 1, Leeds Utd 0

GARRY Monk claimed to be unaware of the reason for his 87th-minute dismissal from the dugout on a frustrating night for Leeds.

With his side trailing to Marlon Pack's 59th-minute goal, Monk was sent to the stands by referee Keith Stroud.

It completed a disappointing evening for the United boss, who was more upset by the result than his own misdemeanour after the game.

"The fourth official got involved but other than that, I don't know what happened," said Monk.

"It's no big problem. You stick up for your team when you think there has been an injustice. That's part of the job.

"I am far more upset by the result because we deserved something from that game. Our performance warranted at least a point.

"We had the best chances and they were clear cut. Our decision-making was poor when it mattered and we need to be more clinical.

"I felt there was a foul leading up to the goal. Free-kicks like that were given all night.

"But we are growing with each game and did well against a very good side."

The only goal came when Pack won the ball in midfield and shot home from a Lee Tomlin pass to lift City into the Championship play-off zone.

The Robins just about deserved their win and had chances to extend their lead as Leeds committed more men forward in search of the equaliser.

Bobby Reid shot wide when he might have scored and then had a late effort saved by keeper Robert Green, while Luke Freeman tripped when through on goal.

Leeds failed to create many clear openings, not least because of a dominant display from City centre-back Aden Flint.

The closest they came to levelling was after 75 minutes when Frank Fielding saved from Chris Wood following an error by Hordur Magnusson.

That meant frustration for more than 2,000 travelling Leeds fans who gave their side great support throughout.
