LEEDS assistant coach Paul Raynor says the club are working hard behind the scenes to bolster their squad with new signings, with the club revealing they have tabled written bids for two players.

Sam Byram this week completed a move to West Ham United and the Whites are keen to bring in new faces as they look to keep alive their fading play-off bid.

Byram was out of contract in the summer and Raynor said: “Sam was a popular lad, a great lad, and, bar the staff, he was probably the first and last in.

“The ultimate prize is to play in the Premier League and you can’t fault Sam for wanting to do that.”

Boss Steve Evans confirmed Leeds have begun the process of trying to reinvest the Byram funds.

“We’ve made a couple of offers in writing,” he said. “We’ve had feedback on one of those yesterday morning.

“When the president comes out of his meetings he’ll be active on that. There’s another one we’re waiting to hear back from, but we’re actively pursuing another couple.

“To supporters, it may look like ‘Sam goes out and nothing comes in’, but the reality is far from it.”

Leeds host Bristol City tomorrow and Raynor is expecting a stern test against the Robins, who beat Championship leaders Middlesbrough last weekend.

Raynor said: “They played very well against Boro and dominated.

“To do that against Boro shows they are a good side.”

Leeds will assess the fitness of several players as they look to bounce back from two successive defeats.

Raynor added: “We’ve got one or two bangs and bruises but hopefully everyone will be available for Saturday.”
