UWE Rosler is banking on the Elland Road roar to revive Leeds for their lunchtime derby with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Rosler’s side were left shell-shocked by Bristol City’s late, late show yesterday as the home side scored twice at the death to snatch a 2-2 draw.

Leeds were on course for a first win of the season after goals from Mirco Antenucci and Chris Wood and the German accused referee Gavin Ward of “getting excited” by allowing six minutes of added time.

Aden Flint’s leveller came as a hammer blow at the end of their fourth game in ten days. Rosler admits the home fans will play a crucial role against Wednesday in lifting his side.

He said: “We have to pick the players up now. We’ll need our supporters to push us on.”

At least Leeds are back in West Yorkshire after trips to Doncaster in a Capital One Cup tie that went to penalties, then Reading and Bristol.

Rosler is unhappy about the hectic fixture list and warned: “I need to be careful what I say but at some point there will be clubs and players suing somebody because of possible injuries.”

The Leeds boss felt referee Ward denied his side a well-deserved three points at Ashton Gate.

“Everybody in the stadium got excited when they got their first goal and that included the referee. He got very excited.

“The crowd couldn’t believe it when they saw six minutes. They thought it was carnival time, another boost.

“A third away game in six days, my boys did terrific. I’m disappointed that we didn’t see it out but it was an honest, whole-hearted performance.”
