LEEDS United are banking on the club's youngsters to underpin their Sky Bet Championship campaign this season.

The whites, who start with a lunchtime match against Burnley tomorrow, want to improve markedly on their 15th-place finish of last season and believe their youthful side, and particularly the midfield, can be a catalyst.

Alex Mowatt, who scored after a ten-pass move against Everton last Saturday, Lewis Cook, Luke Murphy and Kalvin Phillips provide the thrust in the engine room, while defenders Sam Byram and Charlie Taylor are already thought to be capable of playing in the Premier League.

The main worry is whether United can score enough goals to keep them in the race for automatic promotion or the play-offs.

Former Palermo defender Sol Bamba was this week made club captain, while manager Uwe Rosler has shown in pre-season that he is prepared to rotate his players in a bid to keep them fresh for the long season ahead.

A crowd of over 29,000 is expected for the visit of the Clarets, who have retained many of their best players thanks to their prudent approach and the managerial skills of Sean Dyche, despite relegation from the Barclays Premier League.
