NEIL Redfearn insists it remains business as usual for Leeds as uncertainty continues to swirl around him.

His assistant Steve Thompson was suspended last week and sporting director Nicola Salerno today played down claims that he has resigned.

Redfearn’s own position in the Elland Road hot-seat is under scrutiny with his contract due to run out at the end of the season and no indication from the club that they will take up the option to extend it for next year.

As it stands, the former Bantam has five games left in the job – starting with Saturday's home clash against Cardiff.

He said: “We’ve had to concentrate on the here and now, there are five games to go and we are focusing on that.

“It’s important I finish the season for the club and the players then sit and discuss it with the powers-that-be.

“My situation will be dealt with when it’s dealt with. We are concentrating on the football because nobody wants the season to fizzle out.”

Lewis Cook, who has been linked with Premier League interest, remains a doubt and Redfearn is considering another start for Kalvin Phillips after a promising debut at Wolves.

The Leeds chief is confident that the young guns emerging through the Leeds production line will not be lured away because of the Elland Road politics.

He reckons that anyone thinking that is “misreading” the situation and the “strength of feeling and bond between the players and the club.”

“It’s only a worry if something happens,” he added. “We will keep them if we mean business.”
