LEEDS United head coach Neil Redfearn admits Championship survival is his priority but is not ruling out an improbable play-off push for his in-form team.

The Whites have showed a marked improvement in results since January and have collected 11 points from their last six league outings.

They lie 17th ahead of Saturday’s visit of lowly Millwall but Redfearn is looking up not down.

He said: “The main issue is to try and stay in the division and you want to try and get to that 50-point marker as quick as you can.

“But I think if we can get to that 50-point mark quickly then we’ve got to try and squeeze as much out of this season as we can.

“And you don’t rule anything out.

“We’re only one win off 12th position and that puts you in a lot stronger position but a lot of clubs above us will be thinking the same thing.

“It’s a tough division and we’re respecting it in the fact that we have done what the division has asked.

“We’re working hard, we are being difficult to beat, we’ve been organised and we are respecting each team as they come.

“We are starting to pick up results because of it.”

Midfielder Rodolph Austin and defender Gaetano Berardi should return after illness having missed the 2-0 win at Reading in midweek but Liam Cooper (dead leg) remains sidelined.

Redfearn added: “I think Millwall will come and fight and I think they are fighting for their lives.

“They are finding a bit of form and it will be a tough game because they had a great result at Birmingham and they beat Forest away from home.

“They’ve got good players – it’s no secret that I admire one of their players in Martyn Woolford but they’ve got other good players as well. It’s going to be a tough game for us.”

* Danny Wilson has been sacked as Barnsley boss, with the Reds seven points off the play-off places and seven points off the relegation zone. Former Bantams boss Chris Hutchings, who was Wilson's assistant, has also been dismissed.

Head of academy coaching Mark Burton will take charge on a caretaker-basis alongside another former Bantam Paul Heckingbottom, who is senior development coach, for Saturday's match at Crawley.
