Former Forest Green Rovers boss David Hockaday is the surprise name among those being touted to replace Brian McDermott as the next Leeds United boss.
Several leading bookmakers have had the 56-year-old as favourite or joint-favourite over the weekend to land the Elland Road post, with the likes of Gianfranco Zola, former Bantam Benito Carbone and Gianluca Festa also in the mix.
Hockaday was in charge of Forest Green from February 2009 to October 2013 and previously had a spell on the coaching staff at Watford under Adie Boothroyd.
Carbone, who is currently a technical consultant at the Elland Road club, had been the early favourite, though owner Massimo Cellino has reportedly suggested he is more likely to be in charge of the under-21 side.
