Leeds set to go with same again against Millwall
7:58pm Thursday 28th February 2013 in Leeds By Sports Desk
Michael Tonge has impressed Neil Warnock with his recent displays
Leeds United hope to continue their upturn in form when Millwall visit Elland Road on Saturday (12.30pm).
Having claimed four points from their last two games, boss Neil Warnock could be poised to name the same side for the third consecutive time.
A victory over Blackpool and a draw at Blackburn has rekindled hopes that Leeds could make a late burst for the play-offs.
And Warnock gave a broad hint he could stick with the same formula that has seen United move to within six points of the top six.
He said: “We could be unchanged again tomorrow and why not? The lads have done well.
“Michael Tonge has come in and these last two games he’s played as well as he did when I was at Sheffield United and we sold him to Stoke for £2.5 million. It’s brought the best out of Paul Green and David Norris can do what he’s best at – being a beaver in and around things.
“Luke Varney has done well too, hasn’t he? The fans really seem to have taken to him now because I think they can see what he is about.”
Warnock believes his side’s next three games could determine their play-off chances, with trips to promotion-chasers Leicester and Crystal Palace next Tuesday and the following Saturday respectively.
Warnock added: “I don’t think there’s much wrong now. We just need a bit of luck with injuries.
“We’ve got some difficult games coming up but if we can come through those and look towards the last ten games, it could still be anybody who gets in there.”
Millwall have signed midfielder George Saville on loan from Chelsea.
