Under-nines' Jet-powered success
 |
| Westwood under-nines Jets won their second league title in three years with victory over Keybury League rivals Shipley on Sunday |
Westwood Jets clinched the Keybury League under-nine blue division title at the weekend with two games still to play.
A midweek win at Bingley was followed by a 3-0 victory at Shipley.
Goals came from Ross Kelly and Lewis Goldsborough.
Their contribution, along with Adam Perry, Finley Richardson, Kieran Walton, Jake Dawson, Joe Allan and goalkeeper Jacob Ashbrook, ensured the Jets will regain the trophy they first won at under-seven level.
An unfortunate own goal consigned Bradford United under-sevens to a 1-0 defeat against blue division rivals Shipley Lions.
Shipley had the best opportunity to open the scoring in the first half, but the woodwork came to United's rescue.
United under-tens enjoyed a goal feast at home to Myrtle Park, winning 8-5 .
Scorers for United were Harry Gammon, Daniel Isaacs, Riccardo Macor, Pemphero Kallingama and four from man of the match Krishan Patel.
Bradford United under-eights made it three games unbeaten, snatching victory at the death in a hard-fought clash with a much-improved Otley side.
Both sides struggled to adjust to the bounce of the ball on the artificial grass surface but United were always the most threatening, with man of the match Mason Kirby looking sharp up front, and he forced some good saves from the Otley keeper.
United, driven on by Owen Clark in midfield, took the lead with a deflected Kirby shot.
Otley hit back immediately with an outstanding long-range free-kick but United kept pressing forward and grabbed the win in the last minute when Kietan Shergills' corner was dropped by the keeper and Joel Steele swept the ball in.
Albion Sports under-11s came from behind to lead 2-1 at half-time against Undercliffe, man of match Kamron Basi scoring a sensational overhead kick from a corner and a penalty.
But they were punished for some poor defending as Undercliffe scored twice after the break to seal a 3-2 victory.
Inam Haider, Ismail Rehman and Tallah Butt all came close while Abdul Muttalib had a goal ruled out for offside.
Bradford United under-nines black drew 1-1 with Prospect, who deservedly took the lead midway through first half.
After the goal United started to raise their game and nearly scored when Jack Mongan's shot was saved on the line.
Omar Powell got United back in the game as he broke through the Prospect defence and blasted his shot into the top corner.
Nathan Allart denied Prospect the lead with a great save and Matthew Busfield nearly sealed a victory as his shot was deflected wide.
United were beaten 3-0 at BD3 United, although the scoreline did not reflect the closesness of the game.
Billy Raistrick and Jake Wilkinson had chances to score before BD3 took the lead.
Nathan Dunn kept goal well but could not prevent two further goals being scored.
Bradford did not give up and had efforts from Matthew Busfield and Raistrick well saved. Eccleshill's under-eights were the only team from the club that managed to beat the weather and they returned home triumphant with a 5-1 victory at Long Lee.
Shaun Barron and Callum Ellis both grabbed two goals, while a great passing move resulted in a fine goal from Sam Lomas.
Mason Ormondroyd was outstanding in goal and was rewarded with the man of the match award.
Bradford United Lizards produced their best performance of the season to beat Sandy Lane 10-3, with every player contributing.
Rhys Raistrick opened the scoring for Lizards but Lane levelled soon after.
Five more goals in the first half put the game beyond Lane's reach and Lizards never looked in trouble after the break.
Goals came from man of the match Ryan Craven, with his first hat-trick, Rhys Raistrick (2), Jack Cavalier-Lumley (2), Aidan Garner (2) and Josh Broom.
Bradford Tigers under-11s paid dearly for a slipshod performance at rapidly-improving Shipley Tigers, going down 5-1 in the Craven, Aire & Wharfe League.
Midfielder Jordan Kitching scored Tigers' goal but most of his team-mates will have to take a leaf out of his all-action book if they want to thrive next season. Shipley's goalkeeper was man of the match.
