Guiseley were denied any midweek action following the postponement of their fixture at Leek Town but the inactivity did not see them lose their place in the UniBond League Premier Division play-off zone.

They will look forward to Saturday's visit of Hednesford Town and hopefully a three-point maximum to maintain their momentum, with the bonus being they will still have the game at struggling Leek in hand.

"It worked out well because we had Sean Taylforth, Jonathon Fernandez and Lee Pugh all nursing injuries and they have had extra time to recover," said Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick, whose side drew 2-2 at title-chasing Fleetwood Town last weekend.

"We still wanted the game on, as we had played well in the previous game. I was very pleased with Lee Crooks and Sean, who made their full debuts at Fleetwood.

"While it was disappointing that we couldn't build on that at Leek, it meant that certain players could have a little rest."

The Nethermoor men are attempting to stretch their unbeaten run to six games and keep the pressure on fourth-placed Buxton, who are three points better off.

Kittrick said: "It will be interesting playing Hednesford again. They don't really need the points one way or the other.

"They are 12 points off the play-offs but have played the same amount of games as ourselves.

"But I know Phil Starbuck, their manager, and I know from previous encounters that his sides give nothing away. We beat them at their place, scoring five, and he will want to put that right.

"There will be a bit of a payback wanted by them so I have to make sure my players go out there with the right attitude.

"You can't just cruise through a game or, worse, switch off in this division."
